Since the latest version of the Space Wolves codex has been released (October 2009) and new army choices – of individual characters and whole units of either Thunderwolves Cavalry or Fenrisian wolves – were introduced, it took GW 2,5 years ( March 2012) to produce appropriate models (apart from Canis Wolfborn, which was released straight away).

During this time both professional and enthusiast modellers, have created many miniatures to meet growing demand for all sort of wolves models fitting the description. Many of them have become some of the most popular pieces being sold by the online sellers. Clearly, where GW lost out, others made a lot of money and managed to build a strong brand.

Even though GW finally decided to release their own minis, these turned out not to be of many people’s liking and alternative models are still being created.

This blog is an attempt for creating a comprehensive source of models which were and/or still are available around and which would fit into world of Fenris. I have focused on models as they are, with no further alterations made. Of course, all of them and all sort of different models could be and are regularly converted. There are some amazing pieces out there, which I am sure you can easily find by yourself.

If you have anything I have missed out, please let me know!

Comments: One could say that it was only a matter of time when Scibor would release their wolf cavalry model. Yet, sculpt itself does not impress much. Scale seems to be just right, details as well. Yet the head and fur not covering fully the body do not resemble wolf much. Nice pose. Provided with 60mm round scenic base.
